As Mediterranean coasts prepare to welcome 500 million visitors by 2030, heatwaves are no longer the exception: they are the new normal.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cooling Urban Spaces in Summer<\/strong><\/h2>\n

How can cities adapt to rising temperatures while protecting both residents and tourists? What if we reimagined how we explore and live in urban spaces during the hottest hours of the day?<\/p>\n

With Cool Noons<\/strong>, five pilot cities (Marseille, Lisbon, Imola, Budva, and Dubrovnik<\/strong>) are developing and testing solutions to improve thermal comfort and create new urban routes during extreme summer heat.<\/p>\n

Cool Paths: Exploring the City Differently<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Cool Noons project tests and refines itin\u00e9raires de fraicheur en ville (EN)<\/a><\/strong> designed for thermal comfort in the five pilot cities.<\/p>\n

Each city began by mapping its coolest urban paths. Using local climate data, satellite imagery, and detailed urban analysis, they identified naturally cooling areas: shaded streets, green spaces, coastal breezes, and water bodies.<\/p>\n

Spotlight on the Cities<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Explore Cool Paths in Lisbon<\/a><\/strong>, green corridors connecting the city with blue and green solutions<\/strong> along the way. The Monsanto Cool Path<\/strong> links two bioclimatic refuges: the Monsanto Forest<\/strong> (10% of the city\u2019s total area) and the Estufa Fria<\/strong>, ensuring thermal comfort while promoting biodiversity and soil restoration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Marseille, France<\/strong>
A network of urban walking routes for daily commutes or tourism. Cool Paths in Marseille<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0connect the city by adapting public spaces to the new realities of climate change.<\/p>\n

Dubrovnik, Croatia<\/strong>
Highlighting the city\u2019s lesser-known paths, Dubrovnik\u2019s seven Cool Paths<\/strong> create a network to discover the capital in a new light.<\/p>\n

Imola, Italy<\/strong>
Imola\u2019s Cool Paths<\/strong> provide rest areas for locals (especially youth) and tourists, improving quality of life with access to water, shade, and relaxation spots<\/strong>. A quick intervention serving as a lever for medium- and long-term urban planning!<\/p>\n

Budva, Montenegro<\/strong>
Known as the \u201cqueen\u201d of the Mediterranean, Budva is one of the fastest-growing destinations in the region. Its circular Cool Paths circulaires de Budva<\/a> <\/strong>\u00a0connect major tourist attractions to daily local life, from the Academy of Knowledge<\/strong> to the Avala Hotel<\/strong>, passing by the Town Hall and Budva Clock Tower<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Les relient les principales attractions touristiques \u00e0 la vie locale quotidienne, allant de l’Acad\u00e9mie du Savoir \u00e0 l’h\u00f4tel Avala, en passant par l’h\u00f4tel de ville et la tour de l’horloge de Budva.<\/p>\n

Ces itin\u00e9raires urbains ont \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9s en collaboration avec les habitants, les autorit\u00e9s locales, les ONG, les universit\u00e9s et les propri\u00e9taires d\u2019entreprises, dans le cadre d\u2019ateliers et de promenades urbaines participatives.<\/p>\n
