From February 5 to 7, 2024, the Mediterranean Water Institute organized the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum in Tunis, in association with the Tunisian government and the Union for the Mediterranean.

After the official opening ceremony and speeches by 6 ministers, including 4 Tunisians, and a series of side-events on February 5, several thematic sessions were held from February 6 onwards. The themes covered were as follows:

  • WEFE “Water/Energy/Food/Environment” Nexus
  • Water mix and a new vision of water demand by 2050
  • New sources of water financing, performance monitoring and blended financing
  • Digitization and new solutions for rational resource use
  • Drought and flood prevention and management
  • Regulation, the right to water, conflict prevention/resolution

The forum concluded with a series of technical and cultural visits.
