Event : Alexandria Metropolitan Seminar
Kick off of the Alexandria Metropolitan Seminar in the presence of Heba el Rafey, Head of the Public Relations and Media sector of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina – مكتبة الإسكندرية , François-Xavier Léger, Director General of AVITEM, Lina Blin, Consul General of France in Alexandria, Vincent Languille, Mayor of Le Tholonet and Deputy Counsellor for the Métropole Aix-Marseille-Provence, Clémence Vidal de la Blache Director of AFD – Agence Française de Développement in Egypt.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina – مكتبة الإسكندرية for welcoming us to this place linked to Egyptian and Mediterranean history. We are both in this mythical city and in this place of universal knowledge to continue the tradition of exchange and contemporary knowledge production, as Mrs. Heba El Rafey underlined in her speech.
A week of exchanges, field visits and workshops, co-produced with AFD – Agence Française de Développement and the Campus groupe AFD and organized with the support of the Ministère de l’Europe et des Affaires étrangères.
The participants in our Seminar, from Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, France, and Italy, reflect the richness of the dialogue and exchanges of expertise needed to shape the Mediterranea of tomorrow.

Coastal zones and climate change
The Alexandria Metropolitan Seminar also brings together a network of experts in climate change resilience. A workshop will be held on October 17th, 2024 to prepare the Mediterranean contribution to the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Oceans hashtag (UNOC3).
