WORKSHOP – Climate change risk management in coastal cities
Join us in making a unified statement at the UN Ocean Summit UNOC 2025, positioning the Mediterranean as a pioneering region of resilience in the face of climate change risks.
The third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) will be held in Nice in June 2025, under the co-presided of France and Costa Rica. At the occasion of this major international event, the Coalition of World Coastal Cities and Territories will be launched, led by Christian Estrosi, Mayor and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.
AVITEM is playing a crucial role in preparing the Mediterranean dimension of this coalition, as coordinator of a process involving a network of expert partners, Plan Bleu, the Intermediterranean Commission (CIM-CRPM), The Mediterranean Experts on Climate and Environmental Change (MedECC), SEA’TIES – Ocean Climate Platform, the universities involved in the Mélimed project, the Institute for Research and Development (IRD), MedCités, the Mediterranean Institute of Water (IME), the Water Solidarity Program (ps-Eau), to bring out the “voice of the Mediterraneans”.
We are launching a dynamic process of co-construction and exchange, to produce the projects of tomorrow, making our territories more resilient to climate change, and guiding collective action on the scale of each Mediterranean territory and the Mediterranean as a whole.
Become an active participant in the discussion on water-related coastal risks in the face of climate change!
Mediterraneans, territorial planners, coastal risk management experts, local actors, researchers, students in the field of sustainable development, and civil society representatives are invited to join us for a workshop on the management of water-related mechanical and chemical coastal risks:
Atelier : Gestion des risques liés au changement climatique dans les villes côtières
17 octobre 2024 – Bibliothèque d’Alexandrie, Alexandrie, Egypte
We strongly encourage in-person attendance for a successful co-production exercise.
The workshop-declaration process: from collective intelligence to co-production
A process of acculturation and collective production, during a series of four workshops involving as many Mediterranean actors as possible, culminating in a synthesis – the “voice of the Mediterranean” – to be presented by the Coalition of World Coastal Cities and Territories at the UNOC 2025 Summit.
