From 13 to 18 October 2024, a group of urban and spatial planning professionals from across the Mediterranean gathered in Alexandria for an immersive week dedicated to exploring the metropolitan project of this ancient city.

Objective: to study and better understand the dynamics shaping the Alexandrian metropolis at a time when Mediterranean territories are facing major urban, environmental and social challenges.

Participants from Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Italy, Lebanon and France came together to share experiences, discover Alexandria’s strategic urban projects, and engage in collective reflection on the future of Mediterranean territories.

The seminar focused on key themes:

  • Urban renewal policies and projects, and the preservation of the city centre’s architectural, cultural and historical heritage.
