Culture and Ecological Transition Forum for a Sustainable Mediterranean
On 28 and 29 November 2024, the City of Nice is hosting the first open forum of the decentralized cooperation project “Territoires Cultivés,” coordinated by AVITEM.
An event held under the banner of the Mediterranean Day, highlighting the cultural and environmental challenges faced by Mediterranean countries. Two days that will bring together key stakeholders from the fields of culture and sustainable territorial transition in the Mediterranean, committed to implementing eco-responsible solutions focused on cultural resilience, as part of the decentralized cooperation project “Territoires Cultivés”.
- Programme and registrations are available on the City of Nice’s website.
This forum will particularly highlight the City of Nice’s efforts in addressing climate challenges, especially those related to the risks of sea level rise, as evidenced by its leadership role at the head of the Global Coalition for Resilience of Cities and Coastal Regions. This Coalition, led by Christian ESTROSI, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and President of the EUROMED Cities Network, is part of the preparations for hosting the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC-3) in Nice. It highlights the actions of the local authority at the forefront of future recommendations for global coastal communities.
The discussions will also offer an opportunity to discover, as part of the 2024-2025 Year of the Sea, the artistic and cultural programme of the coastal capital, particularly the Biennale of Arts and Oceans. This initiative aims to raise awareness among civil society about the urgency of ocean preservation and to foster both collective and individual consciousness of these vital issues for the Mediterranean and humanity.
