Energy ministers agreed in Brussels to launch joint gas purchases
Alongside the project owner, the semi-public company Al Buhaira Invest, AVITEM, which is coordinating the project management assistance mission, presented the development project for the banks of the North Lake of Tunis at the Mediterranean Urban Projects Forum on1 July 2022 in Marseille.
This 110-hectare project, located in the continuity of the historic city center of the Tunisian capital, has the ambition to constitute a new urban and economic lung for the Greater Tunis and Tunisia. It will deploy a mixed, innovative program and generous public spaces offering the landscape of the lake. Another key ambition is to design a project that is exemplary of the ecological, economic and urban transitions that are so necessary in the Mediterranean today.
The project was the subject of a consultation with civil society, the summary of which is available online.
An international consultation with transdisciplinary designers will be launched by the Al Buhaira Company in October 2023 to develop this project through a competitive dialogue with the project owner. Transdisciplinary teams (landscape architects, hydrologists, architects, mobility experts, economists …) and cross-cultural (from Tunisia and elsewhere) are expected.
In video, some extracts of the presentation to the Mediterranean Urban Projects Forum, by the project management assistance team, Marie BADUEL – Strategy Director of AVITEM – and Amine BENAISSA, architect-urbanist, associate professor at Sorbonne University.
They come back on the really exciting character of this project – its founding pact: the ecological restoration of the polluted Northern Lake led by the Al-Buhaira Company, the exceptional landscape, the continuity with the hypercenter of Tunis… – and present the modalities and expectations of the upcoming International Consultation.
