A key milestone for the FEAST project (Food sovereignty, Ecotourism, Agroecology and Sustainable Territories), which is helping to co-build more sustainable rural territories.
Led by a partnership between France and Albania, with the support of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the project connects four Mediterranean territories: Tirana, Marseille, Arghjusta è Muricciu (South Corsica), and Isula-Balagna (North Corsica).
The Avitem team travelled to Tirana to explore a rich and complex city brimming with initiatives and projects. The goal was to identify local opportunities by engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders deeply committed to their territory and its development.
DAY 1: Focus on the territory

DAY 2: Agricultural challenges
The Avitem team met with Fatmir Guri, Associate Professor in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics, and Elena Kokthi, Associate Professor in Food Systems Economics, Consumer Behaviour, and Responsible Consumption at the Agricultural University of Tirana.
Visit to the agrohub and surrounding rural areas.
Discovery of the city’s markets, guided by the Tirana municipality Agency of Market Management.
Discussion with the NGO Co-Plan Institute for Habitat Development at POLIS University on major sustainable development projects in and around Tirana.
