MED-InA in Tunisia: Circular economy projects supported in the service of Zero Waste
The MED-InA project, in which AViTeM is in charge of communication and exchange of experience, supports 3 pilot cities (Carcaixent in Spain, Irbid in Jordan and La Marsa in Tunisia) in the implementation of adapted Zero Waste approaches.
3 levers are activated simultaneously: public action, citizen engagement and private sector involvement. Within the framework of this third lever, the Nature Conservation Center of the American University of Beirut (project partner) selected an incubator in each of the pilot countries, in order to organize a selection process of 4 projects each (2 at the ideation stage and 2 at the business project stage). These winners then benefit from a 3-month incubation period and prizes ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 euros.
Thanks to the work of the incubator Lab’ESS, find in video the story and the vision of 3 Tunisian winners!
- The Tifra project, an association for the transformation and valorization of waste paper in order to create stationery and decorative products and to raise awareness about paper waste ! Video : youtube.com/watch?v=TQfKPdWdyQ4
- The Vitro project, a new way of thinking about glass recycling. In a mini processing station, the collected glass is transformed into glass flour, thanks to our mini Vitro crusher. Easy to transport, glass flour is much more efficient than sand in pool or pond water filters and replaces aggregates in cement mortar or paints. The video here ! : youtube.com/watch?v=iO-Rm7eRPnI
- The Debrasy Project, a recyclable waste collection company that aims to ease the burden of self-employed waste collectors, called Berbecha in Tunisia, by improving their working conditions and converting the most vulnerable among them to perform community service such as planting trees and caring for street animals.
